Creation of a wood figure
The material and spiritual roots of the woodcarvings from Val Gardena, are steeped in secular traditions and experiences. Our work is inspired by the knowledge and talent of our craftsmen - sculptors, woodcarvers and painters. Our woodcarvings are still mostly produced by hand, but we also use modern technology at times to complete the work. The sculptor first creates a clay model, which is then worked and finished in wood, and finally cast in bronze.Using a pantograph, the artisan transfers the figure from the bronze model to the piece of wood. Only technology allows us to guarantee the best possible precision and accuracy. The woodcarver finishes the rough-hewed figure, giving it his personal touch. The painter complets the work using different types of painting techniques that are shown to our customers: light or brillant colours, gilded or burnished figures in order to see the natural texture of the wood.
